Straw Security

In recent weeks, I have been rather concerned by Eowyn's general disinterest in crawling, pondering the implications of a developmentally challenged baby and hoping she would be at least neurologically sound enough to vote Republican. However, on the grand occasion of her six month birthday, while celebrating at ZydeCo restaurant in Charlottesville, VA, Eowyn performed a feat that assuaged my insecurities: Acting upon her own willful volition (courtesy of Jason's genes), Eowyn sucked through a straw. Astounding. Granted, her first sips were of the baneful Diet Coke and its evil aspartame. Yet, considering it was not in fact alcohol or coffee, I really do think I should not suffer under the stigma of "bad suburban mom." In any event, she remains brilliant, despite her predilection for standing, not crawling.
