From Eowyn's earliest weeks, she has possessed an affinity for the ocean. We concluded this from the telling observation of her solitary day of cessation from screaming when we brought her to the sandy shores of Ocean City, NJ in May 2007. Thus, we thought it would only be fitting to return to the site of her singular day of serenity for the celebration of her first year of life. It was the calming prelude to the forthcoming festivities the following day and Eowyn was delighted to traverse (read: be carried in my arms) the boardwalk, literally laughing out loud and waving to every passerby (including inanimate objects and dirty seagulls). Jason also enjoyed the playground- ostensibly for Eowyn's benefit. However, I think the pictures reveal the truth about who was really enjoying the slide and other such diversions. Overall, Eowyn's actual birthday, (which I personally believe should be a tribute to the "day laborer") was a lovely occasion of celebration of God's precious gift to us and a reminder of why the state of New Jersey has any value at all!

Eowyn is one lucky baby! It's hard to believe how you carried her all that way with only one leg. Amazing feats by an amazing woman.
