A Night with Julie Andrews

Attending the famed Wannamaker light display in center city has become a Christmas tradition and this past weekend, accompanied by my decorated veteran cousin (Eowyn’s personal bodyguard), Jake, we ventured into the city of champions for a night of festive revelry. Though, our buoyant spirits were initially threatened by the congestion of testosterone on the Schuylkill- as Army/Navy patriots thronged-the largest congregation of conservatives in the Northeast. However, tribute must be ascribed to the ever temperate and tolerant, “Uncle Jake”, who endured two hours of Eowyn’s shrill screams of protestation followed by Julie Andrews’ riveting, ACLU sanctioned narration of the Holiday Light Show. Fortunately, Eowyn did relish the sparkly cabaret and the toy section, absconding with every baby doll within grasp (at this rate- our “klepto” daughter will end up with a juvenile record). Later, we convened at the Naked Chocolate CafĂ© for delectable indulgences and provocative discourse with two of my favorite intellectuals-Jason & Jake. Eowyn also benefitted from our permissive cacao appeasements until her crash into a saccharine induced coma. European Sipping Chocolate $3.00. The Illinois Democratic Senate Seat $30,000,000. Veggie Tales CD $10.00. Eowyn’s slumber and Jesse Jackson’s political demise-Priceless.
