Parkland senior right-hander Andrew Kulp did not allow a hit for six innings and finished with a complete-game two-hitter to lead the Trojans to a 6-2 win over District 12 champion Saint Joseph's Prep in a PIAA Class 4A baseball semifinal at Spring-Ford High School's Ram Stadium. Kulp retired the first 12 batters of the game before losing his perfect game by hitting the leadoff batter in the fifth. He got the next three Hawks to keep his no-hitter intact, then pitched a perfect sixth. He finished with 11 strikeouts. The Trojans will face North Penn in Friday's 4A state title game at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona."Kulp Hamels" inspires fear in those who approach the plate and we're excited to audience his (assured) forthcoming victory and assumption of the state championship against North Penn on Friday. Undoubtedly, Andrew will be an asset this fall to Liberty University's D1 baseball team... and eventually to the Philadelphia Philles. In the meantime, I'll be safeguarding Andrew's "John Hancock" on his self-published construction paper rookie cards (circa 1997) for future Ebay sales. And in one petite loyal fans' words, "Yea Andooooooo!!" (cue enthusiastic chubby hand clapping).
