It was the best of times; it was the worst of times:
Most visitors from the Mainland come bearing gifts- often, smuggled Trader Joe's delicacies which boast a street value in Hawaii on par with Cuban cigars. However, our most recent houseguests -my beautiful sister Rebekah and her trophy husband- Drew descended upon our home proffering a rather un-delicious offering: the stomach flu. We were less than grateful. It's grisly assault rendered our home a sea-side sanitarium with the lingering smells of Lysol suffusing the air. However, a bedding set was not the only loss. . . there was the happy realization of being "one stomach flu closer to my goal weight." (Devil Wears Prada).
Gastrointestinal drama aside, we relished beach excursions with my taller twin, her unfailingly affable "Andrew" and her dashing, miniature-man son, Asher. Truly, Drew and Rebekah were gracious, unassuming guests who -nonetheless- inspired our "Parry Moratorium" which now expressly prohibits guests during flu season.

Does this moratorium include the mother who bore and raised you?
