White girls can't dance. It's true. Well, at least my white girl cannot and she had the unique opportunity to publically confirm this racial generalization last Saturday at her Hula Chirstmas Show. In sum: Eowyn was awful. Yep. And I say this as her adoring mother. Truly, I fear we might just get voted off the next island show unless Julianne Hough- apparently the singular white girl who can dance- stages a hula intervention and helps my little girl out.
Then, mid performance, as Eowyn, festooned in her not cheap "pahu" costume, stood un-swaying and askance like a "frozen chosen", a Hawaiian Santa cruised up to the platform-pier on his pimped-out power boat to the cheers of congregated "nice list" hopefuls. Not only was it painful to watch Eowyn's very hopeless hula hubris, but I also entertained an anxiety that she might loudly decry and thereby expose the Santa charade to her fellow pre-school believers. Fortunately, however, Eowyn does not apprehend the power she possesses to devastate so many childhoods.
And for that matter, nor does she apprehend the dismal deficiency of her hula dancing. . . So until that purple pahu has paid for itself, we tell this particular white girl she can dance.

dance shmance. she's by far the prettiest girl there! I'd be happy to oblige a free Moon Walk lesson from our eldest when your stateside. *wink-wink*
I am so proud of Eowyn that she was able to get up in front of a crowd of Hawaiian natives and do her very best. She has come a long way ... remember the previous Christmas presentations at church????? Now that she is accustomed to huge crowds and the flowing skirt, I am sure her next production will be simply marvelous:)
If you hadn't shown that video I would have thought from the pictures she did great! She looks like she is having a blast!
