Clark Kents' Party

A convention of tiny superheroes gathered in their Velcro-ed costumes and sniveling noses on a dreary January night to celebrate the respective birthdays of their heroic compatriots, Palin (2) and Malachi (4). Apparently, fighting for “truth, justice and the American way” was all the rage this year amongst socially conscious toddlers since approximately half of the concave (hairless) guests’ chests featured the iconic “S.” There may have been a lone Batman who arrived in his carseated mobile, but after the torrent of toddler tyranny descended, I lost track of even my own children. And so it goes.

Incidentally, my daughter, whose frugal (villainous?) parents opted for the heroine “Princess” outfit (since it was already in her royal wardrobe) and Kincaid, well, he posed as a “superhero Republican." And I am not being ironic. Sporting a WASPy comb over and sweater vest- it was like resurrecting Reagan. Not surprisingly, this pre-school party was perfect until the cumulative crash, since as supermoms everywhere know, saccharine saturation is a kid’s kryptonite.
