A Cowboy Soiree

My favorite nephew Malachi Reilly Coleman reached the venerable age of toddler purgatory (two) this past weekend. Not surprisingly, my sister’s creativity –abounding in frugality and ingenuity- produced a “pin the star on Sherriff Malachi” and a (somewhat uncouth) cow-udder piñata. The red bandannas out-fitting the petite gauchos were charming in an urban warfare (read: gang) sort of fashion. Suffice to say- this was the first and last occasion that my little debutante will ever sport a bandanna. Malachi’s presence in our family is most auspicious and providential. We love his cheesy little smile, his meditatively provocative silence and his tenacious affection for Eowyn in spite of her domineering disposition. Actually, we loved him on sight and look forward to many more vaguely vulgar theme-based birthday piñatas.

HaHAHa! That pic of you and Erika kills me. I can just about read her mind. Love it. I'm totally hiring her to do my kids' parties. She's amazing.
