Fourth Favorites

The benchmark of Eowyn's recent birthday compels me to chronicle the past year's favorite things:

This year, Princess Aurora enjoys unrivaled eminence as Eowyn’s favorite princess. Hilton Head is her vacation destination of choice, presuming “Ally the inflated Alligator” accompanies her below the Mason Dixon.  Olivia the precocious pig poses prominently as her favorite literary work, though, regrettably it is not a “faith-based” choice.  (We have failed Dobson this year.)  Since Eowyn is the reigning champion of Candy Land, unchallenged by her indulgent parents, this celebrated, saccharine diversion is her favorite. Her favorite dinner of Shrimp & Risotto is best complemented by a chocolate milk cocktail- shaken, not stirred.

Predictably, “pink” is her preferred color and Mary Poppins’ cinematic supremacy remains uncontested. At present, she sings both “Christ the Lord has Risen Today” and alternately “Do a Ditty” –seemingly incompatible “favorites” that are only outdone by her Gaither’s gospel interpretation. Most importantly, Eowyn has committed over 67 verses of Scripture to memory, her favorite passage being I Corinthians 13: 1-6 I maintain the cherished status of favorite friend and Nonnie is her favorite surrogate comforter when tragedies- like scraped knees- transpire. Thus, it is not surprising that Eowyn is a favorite to many.

In lieu of a posh pre-school party, we presented her with tickets to Broadway’s MaryPoppins and an intimate cake and confections crush (the Brit’s term for party) exclusive to our immediate family, which really affords no intimacy at all.  However, Eowyn could not have been more pleased and she has not ceased singing “Happy Birthday” to herself since this occasion two weeks ago.

We just glow when we're together...like fire-flies

Kudos to Eowyn on her scripture memory!!! That's awesome! Great work to her parents for sticking to that, that's no easy feat:) I too enjoy pink, princesses, and shrimp, although I've been unsuccessful in getting any of my girls to join me in the shrimp part, oh well, pink princesses it is!! Happy Birthday!!!
