Home Sweet Hawaii

Texas Governor Rick Perry may not yet be our President, but our neighbors from Texas are nearly the next best thing. Providentially, they have two children nearly identical in age to our own, who covet the company of my tiny entourage almost more than I.  In addition, observing two first-born girls compete for play-date dominance is like watching the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills- all the entertainment value without the Botox and brassieres.

Our Hawaiian villa is truly lovely, save for the blinds bonanza, which have left no window behind. My antipathy for blinds can be traced back to our 1992 powder blue mini-van, which was pimped out with metal blinds and a horn that played Taps. And if that is not reason enough, the magnetism of blinds to children almost absolves Caid’s complicity in bending them unnaturally or wielding their cords like Gepetto. Almost. Either way, it represents a repair expense that could be better invested in -say- finding a reliable neighborhood salon.  Fortunately, we have found one. And let’s be honest, it's the stylist who knows you by name that really makes your house, a home.
