Privately Public

If the dolphin lagoon, blinding chandeliers and exotic marine life ponds did not give it away, certainly the pure-bred pooch photo shoot on the pristine sands of Kahala BeachResort, did:  I, my runny-nosed toddlers and Wal-mart beach accessories were a bit out of our league.

Nevertheless, with a plea to the kids to act properly posh, my friend Diana and I surrendered our keys to an obeisant valet and strode towards the shore-side chalet, ivory sands and cream-colored cabanas as if we regularly sipped Mai Tais on this privately public beach.   Fortunately, Diana’s sexy Romanian accent offers an inherent cultural advantage (and thus, I am cultivating a Windsor dialect of my own- sort of a “BBC meets Princess Di”)  Ordinarily, I could rely upon Caid to create a scene worthy of their celebrity security team intervention; however, even my tiny Trojan horse seemed to recognize the importance of decorum.  And so, we savored the day with our new friends on the beach that puts the swanky back into spear fishing (for real).
