Palin's Controversy

My favorite faux blond sister, Erika has recently engendered controversy, after having assigned the name of “Palin” to her newborn daughter. Admittedly, divisive, avant garde expression tends to enshroud my life; thus, I believe Erika will require a bit of an adjustment period. Fortunately for the ever docile Palin, pervasive slumber has not eluded her and she appears quite impervious to the indignation her name has incited. At a recent Christmas party, I disclosed said polemical name to another guest, who derided the lunacy of conferring a name connotative of political failure and embarrassment (The gracious diplomacy of Obama idolizers never failing to surprise me) The guest attempted conciliation with the consoling remark that fortunately for my unwitting niece-her namesake, Sarah- would soon be altogether forgotten. Surprisingly, though tempted, I evaded the opportunity to confirm all suspicions of my right-wing leanings. Instead, here, I will applaud my sister who not only gallantly defended Sarah Palin’s reputation amongst her dubious peers during the election cycle, but has also memorialized the legacy of the first female GOP Vice-Presidential nominee who defended the liberties of our most vulnerable citizens with the aplomb and grace and beauty of which Michelle O. could only dream. And we are confident that Palin Coleman and Sarah Palin are names not ever forgotten. Welcome Palin!

Palin is a great name! Perhaps this Palin will lead the way to the presidency herself!

She will wear her name proudly and know that her name came from a strong, yet caring woman for the least amoung us, the unborn and the handicapped.

GO PALIN!!

Why can't it just be because it's, you know, a nice name? Why all the attachments to Sarah? Eh - whatever. I'm still pulling for your next baby to be named Gandolf. Oh, and also! Dan will name the baby after you if you give me your chocolate cake recipe.

"Gandolf Jason Frankenfield" rings of strength & integrity. I am not ruling it out.

Okay- so, I have always wanted my namesake to be a "Fredericks"- stay tuned for the recipe. (although, recipe could be bartered for a lifetime supply of movie tix)

And Palin will have to beat out Eowyn in the GOP primaries if I have my way.
