Hilton Head Vol.II: Grandparent Poaching

Alas- no pictures of my sewer emergance...but I do have a lovely black and blue patch on my hip, which I will choose not to release on this public domain...and so it goes. . .

Eowyn has taken to water like a (pink) fish. However, since her cousins have remained in PA to renovate various homes, she is bereft of playmates, save for her mother with whom she swims all day. All day. Pool to beach. Beach to pool. On such occasions, like a sad orphan or "Nemo" (yes, the fish from the movie), she pursues friendships with every fellow junior swimmer in the vicinity, often initiating the relationship with this charming introduction, “Hey Boy! What are you doing over there?” (Impressive pick-up line even for a three year old). Recently, one such gesture of friendship was rewarded with a shared swimming “noodle” (I would love to thank the marketing genius that popularized that inane pool toy). Delighted by the boy’s benevolence, Eowyn presumed that he would also share his grandparents with her upon their auspicious arrival at the pool. Sadly (and it was pitiable), Eowyn clamored to enjoin the chorus of the real grandchildren yelling, “Look at me, I am swimming too! Look at me! Watch me! I am swimming!” This is when I was compelled to intervene and remind her that they were not in fact, her grandparents and had no acquaintance with her whatsoever. To which, Eowyn, undaunted, immediately inquired as to whether the grandmother could come swim with her. Sigh. Fortunately, Eowyn’s Nonnie and Poppy arrive tonight and she will no longer have to poach other people’s grandparents at the pool.

And what of Caid? My sweet second child is no longer satisfied by his own silence. He is a cooing, screeching, sighing wonder. Kincaid has found his voice, along with the ability to crawl. Indeed, his mobility (attained on Saturday, June 26th) has somehow made him cuter, if that is even possible. Will I ever stop finding his dimpled cheeks nearly edible?
