Party on the Peninsula

"I'll never stop loving you." This dramatic avowal of devoted affection was not whispered between Casablanca-styled star-crossed lovers or conclusive to Whitney Houston's predictable eulogy (too soon?). Rather, it was this characteristic theatrical declaration by my precious Eowyn that affirmed the successful review of her third annual Valentine's soiree.  (Which -incidentally- where was this parent-sanctioned saccharine hazing in my day?  )

What the "Peninsula's" sterile community room lacked in aesthetic appeal, it made up for in watery views, mountainous landscapes and indestructible furniture.  (It might just have eclipsed the breath-taking view of bulldozers and forklifts afforded to guests of last year's fete, who braved the construction zone of our Harleysville neighborhood.)  It's true: Blossoming trees in February not only cures Seasonal Affective Disorder complaints but contributes much to the flowery holiday.  Eowyn was a gracious hostess and regretted only the absence of her party veterans on the mainland. (click here for last year's soiree)

And as you may have guessed, I am a sucker for effusive pledges of loving gratitude; so, yes, this is  sufficient incentive for an encore next year.
